Minolta was completing the original Maxxum family, and needed to make sure that this newest member of the line was well received by the photo press, the Minolta sales force, the dealers, and the photographic consumer.

Produced and staged internally by the Minolta production group, this show premiered at a press conference in New York City, followed the next day presented at a national sales meeting for the Minolta sales force. Both audiences saw the big powerful images on an impressive 8'x24' screen. And, the show was transferred directly to video, and duplicated while the sales staff was still at the meeting so they could leave with a copy of the program to show their dealers as soon as they got back to their territories. A one - two - three punch that helped drive this camera also to the top of the sales charts and cement Minolta's leadership position in the Autofocus SLR category.

The show then went on to win the Gold Award for Marketing and the Silver Award for Point of Purchase from the Association of Visual Communicators, and a Bronze Medal at the New York International Film and Video Festival.
